Water sports like swimming, yachting, water surfing and deep sea fishing take place all year round and attract enthusiasts and sportsmen from all over the world. It is situated on the eastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, bordered by the Omani coast from the east, from the west by emirates of Ras Al-Khaima and Sharjah, from the south Kalba and it faces Omani coast. It has a land area of 1,450 sq. km. Last census showed that total population of Fujairah was 100,000. The main cities and villages in Fujairah are Dibba, Murbeh, Qidfa, Al Bidiyah, Masafi and Al-Siji.

Fujairah is about an hour and half drive from Sharjah, less than two hours from Dubai, and three and a half hours from Abu Dhabi.

The historical importance of Fujairah goes back to the period that preceded birth of the Christ. It was known in the old ages as land of the sea giants; the first home for immigrants who came from the southeast of Arabian Peninsula and who were later known as the Phoenicians. Some of those immigrants came from Yemen after the collapse of Ma'areb Dam, and of whom the Sharqis tribes descend.

A Gulf newspaper reports: “Recent discoveries and excavations in the East Coast revealed that Fujairah sits on a treasure of archaeological and historical sites which prove that man lived along the coast thousands of years ago.“

Fujairah Exhibition Center, inaugurated in December 1996, comprises three major exhibition halls, management offices and service utilities in a 1,080-square-metre space, as well as an outdoor display area. A number of internationally important exhibitions have been held at the Centre since its establishment.

High-end hotels have likewise flourished in the emirate, including the Fujairah Hilton, The Ritz Plaza Hotel or the Siji Hotel. The Taj Mahal and Al-Meshwar restaurants offer local cuisine.
